The Successive™ Code of Practice

a way of being, moment to moment, in the 'busyness' of the day

This is a ‘Howto’ guide which summarises how we endeavour to think and act on a moment to moment basis, while going about our business. It is a code of practice.

1. Agile > Rigid

We live in a rapidly changing world and anything that doesn’t adapt will quickly become extinct. We adapt our processes continuously to thrive amidst this constant change.

2. Holistic > Particular

The whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. We endeavour to constantly consider the implications of our actions on the bigger picture and act for the good of the institution at all times.

3. Discernment > Procedure

While procedures exist to support us, the ability to develop independent thought is of greater importance. We seek to develop our powers of discernment in the way we think, act, interact and make decisions.

4. Growth Mindset > Fixed Mindset

Everyone can get a little better at everything, every single day. We aim for continuous growth and improvement in all our faculties and we believe that over time, we can master anything.

5. Collaborative > Individual

The organisation will live or die on the strength of our staff’s ability to work in teams. We seek to become better leaders, better followers and better team members in all areas.

6. Systematic > Random

We believe that systems and processes are central to creating a sustainable, thriving business. We approach situations systematically and look for ways to create more effective methods in all our activities.

7. Demonstration > Teaching

We believe that being the example is the most powerful way to influence others. We demonstrate the characteristics, attitudes, behaviours and principles that we espouse as vital at all times.

8. Questions > Answers

The ability to ask good questions is more valuable than having good answers. We encourage everyone to ask questions, and to develop their skills of enquiry.

9. Practice > Theory

We value learning by doing and encourage everyone to follow the Do/Inspect/Adapt cycle.

10. Communication > Isolation

We value communication of all news; good, bad or indifferent and we promote the regular and timely dissemination of knowledge throughout the institution.
